New developments in visual and digital media are changing what it means to be literate in the 21st century, but what happens to teaching and learning? What if we assigned students to create video documentaries instead of term papers? Could they do it? Could we evaluate the quality & effort? Joe Lambert, Executive Director of the Center for Digital Storytelling in Berkeley, will share his thoughts to conclude the first "Digital Storytelling" workshop at UMBC (currently filled), sponsored by OIT's New Media Studio. In addition to Lambert, faculty workshop participants will be invited to informally share their digital video stories, and reflect on how their new skills might influence their teaching & learning. |
